I was winning. I was taking every possible measure to win the game. I did everything from watching the match again, to understanding the touches & movements of the game. I was burning myself from all sides and got nothing to say about myself. I was winning! Then the team had an update- A new player on the roster. He was taking everyone down. He showed that he is the boss and others do not know how to play the game. He was disturbing the balance in the team. I was not paying to any of this and it started to cost the team everything from on-court fights between each other, them not passing the ball to losing matches back to back. I now had to do something to get the team starts winning again.
I moved to during the practice and said to him, " After this, you and I are going 1v1" It was what he was looking for. He put pressure on the team to get to me. Hence, the 1v1 began, This was after practice, so one saw it. I was playing to understand his game, his mentality and how he is trying to work his way to the team, his story, and then I used all these points to understand him. Then came the time of the match, I was right there every play, telling him, his own story and how he can use it in the game. We lost the next 3 matches, but I still was practicing with him. 6 matches later, our streak was back on. We started winning and won 10 games back to back.
I still kept practicing. I understood something, I have to teach people how to play until they can do it alone without any guidance.
Life Lesson: I cannot leave anything to chance.
