After a good evening workout and dribbling with the ball, I was back home and started drawing all the moves that I could imagine. I didn't know if I could do it or not yet I went with the flow of creating, drawing because I enjoyed it. As I had a computer and the Internet I used all my imagination to get my favorite shot- the jumper. Then I called George and asked them to send the video that was recorded. After getting the video, I played the video again and again and again to see the details that made me lose my game. I was running too much, so was draining my energy and the solution would run at certain plays and passes but I chose to increase my stamina because I liked to be around where the ball is.
So it's decided then that every day after practice 10 minutes of continuous running up and down the court- Non-Stop. That is what I wrote in my book and went to sleep. In the morning, I was out really early- 5 am to practice as always I saw cole already on the court. I put on my shoes and started dribbling and warming up. Then I wanted to test what I drew yesterday- the jumper, so called Cole and played 1v1 ( 1 versus 1 ). The first turn was of Cole, he went to the hoop 3 times in a row, but I wasn't even thinking of defense my only focus was my new shot. It was my turn, I was standing right in front of the basket behind the 3 point line and could have pulled up and hit the jumper, but I wanted to test so went to dribble my shot towards the left. At a 45degree angle, I pulled up and made a 20 footer fall-away jumper. It went and hit the board, came out. So I did it the next time with the right side, and the result- Airball! I did the same thing again and again until Coach Barton came. I was hitting my jumper and came to the voice " Evening practice, get the team. "
I was so pumped up, thought of shouting, however, I was at school and staff was coming in. Went to school and during lunch passed the message of practice and I went through notes of earlier. Coach came in the evening, made us stand up, and told us we would have 48 games before we enter the finals. At that, I was thinking 48 times I get to perform better. The matches were in our state, however, were not fixed only on Saturday and Sunday; that was the second thing that he told us.
50 games, 48 days- 3 days gap in between each game; and the time is morning at 10:00 AM. Normal rules were in order 5 in court, 2 subs and luckily they didn't need 2 more for injury and fouled out. Coach game us the form to fill the fees was 120 Rupees per player. 15 teams including us so we were competing against 14 other teams to win the summer league and get qualified for the inter-state basketball tournament.
When the coach left, I was thinking of when should I practice and what are the things I need to become a leader and get my team ready for the game. Coach came back and said,- " tomorrow is the last day of form submission, and 2 days later game starts. " And we were left with tonight to decide on how to get the money because we were surely not asking parents, at least I wasn't or that is what I thought.
Life Lesson: Once you find what you love, you will go to the extremes to get more of it.
